Help Save Moss Park

As you may know Renfrewshire Council have declared Moss Road park ‘surplus to requirements’.  This means the council can sell the land for development.

I am opposed to the loss of green space and believe the park should be left alone at least and, if anything, improved as a recreational space for children and the wider community.  I have deep concerns about the impact that the sale of this land could have on local residents and businesses, many of whom are already struggling.  I do not want to see local businesses – many of which have served the local community for decades – suffer and be forced to close.

The centre of Bridge of Weir has seen some improvements in the last few years.  This was as a result of lobbying and pressure from the local community and from councillors, including myself.  I do not want to see the heart being ripped out of the centre of the village and to this end I have submitted a representation to the Director of Planning and Transport indicating my opposition to any rezoning of play areas in Bridge of Weir for retail.  At the very time we are encouraging people to be healthier by getting out and about, we cannot also be selling-off our green spaces!

I would, though like to know the views of local residents and would appreciate if you could take the time to complete the survey below.
